Kayak Safety and Rescue Clinics
Do you paddle alone? Are you able to get back into your boat unassisted? Do you paddle with friends? Have you practiced rescuing each other? Do you know how to swim with your boat in the event you aren’t able to ‘self rescue’? If you are new to kayak safety then this is a course for you!
You will gain confidence in your rescue techniques as we learn:
- Wet exits and cowboy rescue- aka self rescue
- T, assisted rescues, scoop and heel hook
- Contact tow, towing with towlines, boat over boat rescues
- How to swim with our boats and back deck rescues
This course is designed for people with basic paddling skills* (can paddle forward, backward and side to side).

I have never had a session with an instructor so knowledgeable, compassionate and positive before. I felt confident with Andrea and I can’t wait until our next lesson. Great job- you are one of my she-ros now! Betty Murphy
Andrea was excellent in her knowledge and ability to demonstrate various paddle strokes. And to watch and help me incorporate new techniques. Mary T Huber
